What Candy Shorts Really Costs, Chapter by Chapter

The first time the lock showed up

Episode two of the first series I tried ended mid-sentence, the way these always do, and when I swiped up the next chapter was blurred with a small padlock and a number: 12. No explanation, no pop-up, just the price. It took me an embarrassing amount of tapping around to work out what that number meant in real money, which is why this page exists. Nobody should have to do that arithmetic on the fly.

How the two currencies fit together

Candy uses two layers. The first is the Premium subscription, which is what allows the locked chapters to open in the first place. The second is tokens, the in-app currency that each chapter charges. Premium hands you 100 tokens every month, whichever billing cycle you choose, and you can buy more inside the app if you run out. So the real question is never "how much is a series" but "how many tokens, and what did those tokens cost me."

The Premium plans

These are the prices Candy showed me in September 2026 in US dollars. Taxes can apply on top, and Candy runs promotions often enough that you may see a discount badge.

The charge shows up on bank statements under the operator's name, EverAI, rather than Candy. Worth knowing if you share a card or a statement with anyone.

What a chapter costs in dollars

If you only ever use your monthly allowance, the dollar price of a token depends on your plan. On the annual plan a token works out to about four cents; on the monthly plan, about fourteen.

That puts an ordinary five-part series at roughly the price of a coffee on the annual plan, and a creator-led one at about two and a half times that.

What a whole series adds up to

Because the first two chapters are free, you only pay for what comes after them. That makes the long series oddly good value: YES MA'AM runs fifteen chapters, so it costs 156 tokens, but that is thirteen paid chapters instead of three. Here is how the common lengths work out:

• 5 chapters, standard: 3 locked × 12 = 36 tokens
• 5 chapters, creator-led: 3 locked × 30 = 90 tokens
• 10 chapters, standard: 8 locked × 12 = 96 tokens
• 15 chapters, standard: 13 locked × 12 = 156 tokens

How I would spend one month of tokens

With 100 tokens you have three sensible plays. Finish two standard series and keep 28 tokens in reserve. Finish one creator-led series if there is a performer you specifically want to see. Or, my own preference, sink the month into a ten-chapter story, which eats 96 tokens and gives you eight paid chapters of one plot instead of fragments of several.

The move I would avoid is buying extra tokens on impulse halfway through a cliffhanger. That is exactly the moment the format is designed around, and it is how a $3.99 month quietly turns into a $30 one.

Things that do not cost anything

The 221 free chapters, obviously. Browsing covers and reading premises. Rewatching anything you already unlocked, because unlocked chapters stay yours. And trying a series all the way up to the lock before you commit, which is the single best habit for keeping this cheap.
